Scanning Products > Applications
The
flexibility of the TriForm scanning technology makes many applications
possible. The safety aspect of the technology, and it's ability to
rapidly capture large areas of data, make TriForm particularly suitable
for scanning all or part of the human body.
Retail
Industry - Laser-engraved Crystals

Using the TriForm Portrait Scanner, and software developed by Wicks and
Wilson for this specific application, it is possible to create a 3D
image of the head inside a crystal block. The capture
process takes just one second, with little or no operator intervention
required to create a realistic 3D image that can be sent to an engraver
to create the image inside the crystal.
Health
and Fitness - Shape Tracking
TriForm BodyScanners can be
installed at gyms and health and fitness centres to track changes in
body shape in three dimensions. A gym member or client can be captured
by the TriForm BodyScanner at the start of a training program or diet
and then track their change in shape over a number of months using the
comprehensive TriForm BodyShape software.
Garment
Industry - Sizing Surveys
Research has been carried
out for a number of years into how 3D full body scanning can be used
effectively in the garment industry. Retailers in the UK have used
TriForm technology to scan the shape of their customers as part of a
sizing survey. The data enabled more appropriate standard size charts
to be produced and better fitting clothing to be manufactured for their
customers.
Garment
Industry - Clothing Manufacture & Visualisation
In addition to sizing
surveys, TriForm BodyScanners can also be used to manufacture bespoke
clothing. Automatic measurement extraction software calculates the size
of a customer so that their clothes can be made-to-measure. Projects
are also underway using TriForm scanners for photo-realistic clothing
visualisation over the Internet.
